Discover what makes Sigenergy’s SigenStor Neo different. This all-in-one energy storage system brings hybrid power conversion, whole-home backup, Smart Port connectivity and modular battery storage together in one installer-focused solution for the UK market.
Sigenergy unveiled SigenStor Neo at Intersolar Europe 2026 as the centrepiece of a wider home energy ecosystem, alongside its SigenFlux heat pump and second-generation Sigen EVAC charger. At its heart, the system is built from just two building blocks.
The first is the Sigen Energy Controller. This is the hybrid inverter, but it also carries the power conversion, energy management and gateway functions that would normally be spread across separate hardware. The second is the SigenStor Neo BAT battery module, which stacks beneath the controller. You can fit between one and six modules per controller, and because the controller and the batteries share the same width, the finished stack reads as one tidy unit on the wall or floor.
The range is broad enough to cover most residential work:
Single-phase controllers from 2.5 kW to 12 kW, each with four MPPTs.
A compact single-phase "SE" line from 2.5 kW to 6 kW, with two MPPTs and a slimmer body.
Three-phase controllers from 3 kW to 15 kW, with three MPPTs.
Battery modules in two sizes, offering roughly 6 kWh and 7.5 kWh of usable capacity each, using LiFePO4 chemistry.
Whole-home backup has traditionally needed an extra piece of kit: a gateway or backup box sitting between the grid, the inverter and the consumer unit. It adds cost, wall space and wiring complexity, and it's often the reason a customer ends up with "essential loads only" backup instead of the whole house.
SigenStor Neo builds that switching into the controller. The standard single-phase and three-phase models carry a 63 A grid-to-load passthrough on the backup port, which in practical terms means the whole consumer unit can sit on the backup side with no separate backup box. The compact SE models are rated lower, at 45 A, which is worth keeping in mind on larger homes.
Retrofit of existing solar. A customer's existing third-party PV inverter can be brought in through the Smart Port. Sigenergy's material positions this as a way to make the old array part of the managed system, rather than a one-way input sitting outside it.
Smart loads. The port also links into Sigenergy's wider ecosystem, including the EV charger, heat pump and Sigen Breaker for load control.
This is the part of the SigenStor Neo design that's easy to overlook, and arguably the most important long term.
In a conventional series-connected battery stack, the modules behave as one long chain. The weakest module sets the limit for the whole stack, a bit like the shortest stave on a barrel deciding how much water it can hold. As modules age at slightly different rates, the usable capacity of the whole system drifts down to match the weakest link.
SigenStor Neo gives each battery pack its own built-in optimiser and connects the packs in parallel. Each module is managed individually, which means better balancing across the stack.
Sigenergy's product material also indicates that packs at different states of health can be combined, which could make adding capacity years down the line far more practical than with series-stacked systems. We'd still recommend confirming expansion rules with us before promising a customer a specific upgrade path.
Battery safety is often the first question homeowners ask. The Neo battery modules use eight layers of protection: temperature sensing across the full pack, aerogel insulating pads between cells, high-temperature insulating pads above the pack, a decompression valve, an internal fire-extinguishing kit, a humidity sensor, circuit insulation monitoring and temperature monitoring inside the quick connectors.
On the controller side, the protection list includes arc fault detection, insulation and residual current monitoring, Type II surge protection on both DC and AC, anti-islanding and PID protection. Combined with LiFePO4 chemistry, that gives you a clear, credible safety story to take into customer conversations.
UK roofs are rarely simple. Dormers, hips, east-west splits and a bit of shading from the neighbour's chimney are all normal. The single-phase SigenStor Neo controllers have four MPPTs across the full range and a start-up voltage of just 40 V. In practice, that means a string can be as short as a single panel, and different roof faces can each have their own tracker. Sigenergy also points to longer generation time in the early morning and late evening as a result of the low start-up threshold. The three-phase controllers have three MPPTs and a higher start-up voltage, so check string design separately on those.
With backup switching, gateway functions and generator connection inside the controller, there are simply fewer items to mount, wire and commission. Sigenergy has also cut the decorative covers down to a single side cover and reduced the packaging, which sounds minor until you're clearing a loft or garage at the end of a long day.
Some of the smaller design choices are the ones installers will notice most. The terminals use angled ports for bend-free cable routing and support 16 mm² rigid cable. The terminal screws are designed for tightening with an electric screwdriver. There's a cable preparation tool for cutting to set lengths, and the mounting is designed to align with wall studs. None of it makes headlines, but it all saves time.
The controllers are light enough for one person, coming in under 27 kg for single-phase and under 30 kg for three-phase. The battery modules are a different matter at 55 kg and 65 kg, so plan for a two-person lift. Batteries can be floor-standing or wall-mounted, and the whole system is IP66 rated with natural convection cooling. No fans means no fan noise and one less moving part to fail, and the rating opens up outdoor locations where indoor space is tight.
Because capacity scales from one to six modules per controller, you can start a customer small and add modules when an EV or heat pump arrives. The SE line suits simpler single-phase jobs; the standard models are the ones to look at for generator support or retrofits.
Communication options are generous: WLAN, Ethernet, RS485, Sub-1G, Bluetooth and Sigenergy's optional 4G CommMod. That flexibility helps on sites with poor Wi-Fi at the install location. Monitoring and control run through the mySigen app.
One handover point worth building into your paperwork: the datasheet notes that the battery must be recharged within seven days of being fully discharged to keep it healthy. That matters for holiday lets, empty properties and long outages, so make sure the customer knows.
Backup that feels normal. With whole-home passthrough built in, an outage doesn't have to mean deciding which circuits get power. For customers who want more control, the Sigen Breaker adds tiered load management. Up to ten breakers can connect over RS485, so loads can be grouped into tiers: critical loads first, then comfort loads, then high-power appliances such as an electric hob, heat pump, EV charger or water heater. During an outage, the system can prioritise the essentials and extend how long they stay powered.
Smarter use of solar. The energy management system, controlled through the mySigen app, is designed to plan when to charge, discharge and use energy based on the home's patterns and tariff. For customers on time-of-use tariffs, that's where storage starts earning its keep.
One joined-up system. Sigenergy positions Neo as the hub of an ecosystem that also includes its EV charger, the SigenFlux heat pump and smart breakers. Instead of a charger, a heat pump and a battery all working to separate logic, they can be coordinated to make better use of solar across the whole home.
A route for existing solar owners. Many homeowners with older systems want storage but don't want to rip out a working inverter. The Smart Port retrofit option gives installers a cleaner way to have that conversation.
Battery storage in the UK has moved well past being an add-on. Installers are fitting it on new systems, retrofitting it to older arrays and designing around EV chargers and heat pumps.
Several aspects of SigenStor Neo fit that shift:
Single-phase focus. Most UK homes are single-phase, and the Neo single-phase range runs from 2.5 kW to 12 kW at 230 V, including a 3.68 kW model that will look familiar to anyone who designs within common UK connection thresholds.
Retrofit potential. The UK has a large base of existing solar homes with no storage. A system that can bring an existing inverter into its managed setup is well suited to that market.
Electrification. As heat pumps and EVs spread, load management and high passthrough current become more valuable, not less.
Tariff-aware energy management. With time-of-use tariffs increasingly common, intelligent scheduling is fast becoming expected from solar battery storage.
New technology only helps installers if they can get reliable information, specify it correctly and get hold of it when the job is booked.
At Triple Solar, we already supply the Sigenergy range to installers across the UK, so we're following the SigenStor Neo closely. For a platform like this, the questions we expect to hear are practical ones. Which controller suits a single-phase home with a heat pump on the way? Does the SE model have the backup capacity this property needs? Can a customer's existing inverter come across through the Smart Port? What's the lead time?
Our job is to help you answer those before you're on the roof. That means up-to-date product information, honest guidance on compatibility, clear updates on UK availability, and a named account manager with technical support from quote through to commissioning. It also means stocking the rest of the system, from solar panels to mounting and electrical items, so you're not chasing parts from multiple suppliers.
The direction of travel in solar battery storage is clear. Fewer separate boxes, more intelligence in the system, and hardware designed to grow with the home rather than be replaced when needs change. SigenStor Neo is a strong example of that thinking: backup switching moved inside, a flexible Smart Port, batteries that manage themselves individually, and installation details that respect an installer's time.
Whether it suits a particular job will always come down to proper design. But for UK installers watching where home energy storage is heading, it's well worth getting to know.

SigenStor Neo next-generation all-in-one is a home energy storage system. It pairs a Sigen Energy Controller, which combines the hybrid inverter, energy management and gateway functions, with stackable LiFePO4 battery modules. One controller supports between one and six battery modules.
The main changes are integration and flexibility. SigenStor Neo builds whole-home backup switching into the controller, adds a Smart Port for generators, existing third-party inverters and smart loads, and gives each battery pack its own optimiser so packs are managed individually rather than as one series chain.
Solar panels connect to the controller's MPPT inputs. The controller converts power for the home, charges and discharges the battery modules stacked beneath it, and manages energy flows through the mySigen app. If the grid fails, the built-in backup port keeps home loads powered.
SigenStor is well regarded for its modular, all-in-one design and app-based energy management. The Neo generation adds eight layers of battery protection, per-pack optimisers and integrated whole-home backup. Suitability always depends on the property, loads and system design, so it's best specified with an installer.
Sigenergy's approach is to combine inverter, battery, power conversion, energy management and gateway functions into one integrated system, managed through the mySigen app and connected to its own EV charger, heat pump and smart breakers. The aim is fewer separate components and more coordinated control across the home.
The SigenStor Neo range includes single-phase controllers from 2.5 kW to 12 kW at 230 V and three-phase controllers from 3 kW to 15 kW, which covers typical UK residential installs. UK compliance documentation and availability should be confirmed with your distributor before specifying.
Key points: Neo batteries are listed as compatible with Neo controllers SE models have a lower backup passthrough and no listed Smart Port battery modules weigh up to 65 kg; batteries must be recharged within seven days of full discharge and current datasheets are preliminary.
